PORT HERCULE
A natural bay at the foot of the Rocher, Port Hercules is at the heart of a prestigious district combining history, modernity and major events. With a capacity of nearly 700 berths, the marina has retained its authentic charm, filled with a singular joie de vivre.
From the Latin “condominium,” which in the Middle Ages meant a piece of land near the castle reserved for the lord, La Condamine is the district that houses Port Hercules, named after a Greek legend according to which Hercules stayed in Monaco.
Here, time seems to stand still, like an enchanted interlude. Situated between the Rock to the west and Monte-Carlo to the east, the Port Hercule district is home to some of the Principality’s must-see attractions.
Just a few minutes’ walk from the marina, on the Place d’Armes, every morning, market stalls filled with fruit, vegetables and flowers cover every square centimetre with brilliant colors and perfume the Monegasque air with intoxicating scents.
At the heart of the pedestrian Rue Princesse Caroline, strolling along the stores leads to a skyline where Port Hercules takes shape, adorned with its magnificent yachts and regularly animated by exceptional events such as the Jumping International de Monte-Carlo or the famous Formula 1 Grand Prix.
Not far from the Yacht Club de Monaco, on the terrace of the Société Nautique, taking the time to sip a coffee or enjoy a fine meal is also a simple luxury that’s much appreciated.
In summer, diving into the translucent blue of the Rainier III nautical stadium pool is a pleasure for athletes and non-athletes alike.
